Feudalism
Social System of exchange between the different classes of people with a goal of thriving.
A way to pull society back together after the Roman Empire collapsed
Arranged om a pyramid that has different levels (all having roles but different levels of importance
Top - the king (controlled the land)
The Barnes and Noble - (loyalty to the king called feif)
Knights - defended the land
Peasants and serfs - did most of the labor and worked on the property or land of the Barnes and nobles who in turn paid them/let them live on their land ((some were there to pay off debts (serfs weren't allowed to leave the land))

Relationship between lord and serf
Decline of Manoralism happened around medieval period where
Middle ages lasted from the 5th to the 15th century

Great Ruler after he died; His sons took over after he died; His 3 grandbabies fought over the kingdom and it was eventually split into 3 kingdom
Vikings, Magyars, Muslims invaded frequently; The king couldn't protect everyone so they were terrified; They looked to other things to protect them
Charles was the king of France and asked a leader of a viking army for loyalty in exchange of a piece of France
Religion
Brought people together; People tithed; Pope had power over the king
Canon Law - The church can overrule an edict if they feel its not right
Papal Schism
Pope ruled the Roman Catholic Church; College of Cardinals chose 2 popes at the same time and decided to add another after they didn't like the last 2; Later made them all resign; After this the popes power weakened
