committees
Types of committee
AD hoc committee : formed to complete a particular task on a temporary basis
Sub-committee : Appointed to relieve the parent committee of some routine work
Standing committee : formed for a particular purpose on a permanent basis/deal with routine
Joint committee : formed to coordinate the activities of two or more committees on either permanent or short basis
Executive committer : Have the power to govern or administer
Management committee : Exist in different management levels
Purposes of committees : creating new ideas/ excellent means of communication/facilitate problem solving /combining abilities /coordination/representation/making recommendations
The roles in committees
The committee chair :give immediate ruling on points of dispute or doubt/Impartial/discretion/punctual and regular attending meetings
The secretary of committee
Before : fixed the date, time, location/prepare and issue
After : prepare minutes / communicate and act on decision
At the meeting : assist chair/make notes
Appraisals
consolidation of power,authority/delegation of power , authority /blurring responsibility/delay
Time consuming and expensive/compromise instead of clear cut decisions /operation may be jeopardized /delay
