Lily 3.6

Lily is an outsider.

Girls tease Lily when she brings them the balloon

The cat wanders over

The kids/class throws a party for Lily

Lily feels like an outcast

Lily isn't invited to an all girl party at the park

Class party – End of School. Adults/teachers are present.

Lily points out the shape of wings over a bench. "Like angel wings," she said. The kids laugh. An adult said,"Don't stare..."

A balloon blows away

Lily chases the balloon – the Shadow on the bench catches it. IS THE SHADOW BLIND?

Mr. Dandy is interested the the balloon (looks at his reflection curiously?)

The girls try to pick up the cat

The girls pick up Mr. Dandy and he squirms to escape

Lily tries to help but Mr.Dandy strikes at the balloon she is holding

Mr. Dandy jumps away and ruins the party decorations and cake

Lily sits off by herself

Lily talks to Lady Penelope

Lily sees the girls chasing something moving in the brush – comments that if they think they're chasing MD they're in for a surprise. LP asks L if she likes surprises

Lily tries to warn the kids about the skunk

The kids are rude and make fun of her as soon as they see her

Lily persists but the kids are mean and tell her to leave / mind her own business

Lily considers "what is right?"

Lily steps in front of the kids / pushes them back – and gets sprayed by the skunk

The Shadow introduces herself as Lady Penelope

Lady Penelope calls her cat Mr. Dandy. LP says he calls her "Your Grace", but you may call me "Lady". He sports an old black tie as his collar.

LP says friends are invisible as air in this kingdom > but Mr. Dandy says not to confuse something unsee with something unimportant

LP wonders if they're chasing fire breathing dragons. MD tells her its much worse than that

Lily sees that it is a skunk

Lily considers a "Serves them right" attitude. "It will serve them right if they find that," said Lily.

Lady Penelope challenges her with "what is right?" #

Lily trips and falls backwards – flushing out the skunk

Lily gets sprayed. All the kids laugh except the popular girl

Lily moped

It rained the first week of Lily's summer vacation

Lily sees a balloon bobbing outside her window

Lily investigates the balloon and meets the popular girl

Pop Girl admits she wasn't a very good friend. She awkwardly says "Sorry" and "Thank you/thanks"

She was glad because it took that long for her to smell normal again.

"My mom talked to your mom /OR/ I saw your mom at the store," PG said "She said you think pets make the best friends." Lily nodded.

"Until then, I thought you might like this," PG gives Lily a kitten in a basket

"Maybe someday we could be friends too," said PG

In the B.G.is Lady and Mr. Dandy (and balloon?)

Lily sees the shadow of a cat (with bowtie?) outside her window

Does Lady ask Lily if she is an ailurophile
( a cat fancier : a lover of cats)? Maybe L says "Why a cat fancier silly." And Lily takes offense and says emphatically, "I'm not silly." To which L says something that get Lily thinking:
Lady: warmly,"Oh we all are in our own way. It's what makes us special"
/OR/
Lady exclaims, "Oh silly me!" Lily is taken aback but L reassures her with a wink everyone is silly...

LP makes a reference to "sight" or "seeing" or "there's always more to the story"... she rolls up a (special?) paper and has Lily look through it – she sees skunk
