- - - - A benefit is that the user of a keyboard can be very specific when typing in text, more so than with a pointing device or a voice device. A challenge to incorporating into the learning environment is that keyboards get such heavy use they may need to be replaced more often than other input devices.
      - One application in the learning environment would be to use a keyboard to teach a learner to type. I have also seen video games where learners have to speed type certain letters, numbers and even math equations in a certain amount of time to increase long-term learning.
  - - - A benefit to monitors is that they show the user what is happening as they input their information. A challenge is that monitors can be expensive and that monitors may be difficult for some users to use depending on the resolution of the screen and how bright or dark it is.
      - The applications of monitors for learning are endless. A monitor can be used to give presentations as well as be used for individual interactive learning lessons.
- - - - A benefit is that the hardware will not run without the software, so it is essential. A challenge is that we must know the requirements of the things we are doing and be sure that our hardware is able to handle the software we want to use.
      - One way that Mobile Apps can be used in learning is to run instructional games on a tablet computer. Students can be engaged individually and the instructional game can tailor itself to the specific learners current abilities.

        A benefit is that it makes the computer read/write processes MUCH faster and even makes some tasks possible that would be too slow without it. A challenge is that it disappears when the computer crashes and/or s turned off, so we must make sure that we regularly save to a hard disk for long-term storage.
        
        One way RAM is used in learning is to store running applications in short-term (fast) memory. This enables some interactive games and other tasks that would be very slow and unusable without it. An example of this would be Interactive tools that let you explore science topics like different habitats in a near real-time environment.
