Water Center Steps/Process
Removing Sludge
To remove it there's a process called thickening
There are large tanks that are called the digesters eat the sludge
Removes chemicals that are toxic
Aerating
Exposing the water to the air causes to release dissolved gasses
Wastewater enters a series of long parallel concrete tanks.
Shakes the sewage to expose the water in thin air
Pumping
Wastewater treaments are underground because the people throw the wastewater in the tanks
Has to be pumped up to the aeration tank
Relies on the force of gravity to move from places
Screening
If their not removed the water could cause damage later on the process
The wastewater are sent to a landfill
They screen if the water has dirt or other trash in them
Removing Scum
Scum' includes grease, oils, plastics, and soap.
Scum is thickened and pumped to the digesters along with the sludge.
sedimentation tanks, lighter materials are floating to the surface
Killing Bacteria
Chlorine helps destroy bacteria
Chlorine sometimes needs to be Neutralized
Chlorine contact' tank, where the chemical chlorine is added to kill bacteria
