High-stakes
An assessment used to make important decisions, like being promoted to the next grade, graduation, school admission or grade placement. These evaluations also can be high-stakes for the educators, schools and districts. In my class, final projects would be the closest to high stakes, but these are mostly because I’m evaluated on those.

Advantages: It allows you to assess understanding, can be standardized to gather data across districts, states, etc.
Disadvantages: Stressful for students, families and teachers. You can’t correct course for the students after the testing is done. Controversial, some people believe we spend too much time teaching students how to take a test.
