Callum actually wanted to be a mage but his dad didn't approve of it at first. Guy wanted to be a reader instead of burning books.
Curiosity
Guy wanted to know more about society and why they burned the books so he took books to read. Callum was curious about what was in the tunnels so he went down in the caves and found a monster. Curiosity killed the cat.
Change
Callum wanted to be mage but his dad didn't approve of him being a mage. Guy didn't want to be a fireman anymore so instead, he read.
