Final Reflection:
Technology for Instruction
What was your understanding about "technology in instruction" before you began the course. How did that understanding change as you went through the course?
At the beginning of this course, I did not know that much about how to use the different technology that is available for educators. As the 7 weeks progressed, I surprised myself and found it a little easier if I took my time. :
What problems did you encounter in using the various technologies? Provide specific examples. How did those technology challenges affect your thinking about using technology in instruction?
When creating my classroom website, I found the project overwhelming. I was very frustrated that I could not get the site to look the way I wanted it to.
I had trouble making my class introduction video, but once I figured it out, I was very proud of myself for figuring it out.
The biggest challenge I faced while completing all my technology projects was time management. I found that each assignment was very time consuming. And yes, technology does have a huge impact in the classroom, in my opinion, but in order for it to be effective, the educator must put in the time and effort.
When making my mind map, I had so many problems, and had to restart it many times. Each time I started a new map, I fixed the mistakes and learned more. The mistakes I made, helped me learn how to be more effective.
What do you still need to work on as it relates to finding and using technology? Explain using specific examples.
What do you still need to work on as it relates to using technology in instruction? Explain using specific examples.
What next steps will you take as a result of this class? Explain while making specific examples of your work.
I think that all the programs we learned about and used in this class, I could and should investigate more into each of them. I am almost positive we only scratched the surface on the utility of each program.
I need to work on experimenting and trying different actions within each program. I think building on to my SMART board project would be easier and faster now that I have an understanding of the program.
I think the next step from this class is to continue to think outside of the box and expand on my knowledge of the programs to reinforce my lessons. I could use my TTS project to use as accommodation for a student with an IEP.
How will you be a better teacher as a result of this class? Be specific.
