The narrator remains under a similar tone for almost the entire novel, and will speak about things he loves or hates, including death with the same amount of joy, or lack of joy. He seems to never be phased by the thought of dying, which is uncommon. Most humans and animals are always trying to survive, and get nervous when thinking of death, or the possibility that they could die.
