Gallaudet Board of Trustees appointed Elisabeth Zinser, a hearing person, as president of university.
6th President, Jerry C. Lee, resigned.

What it led to
I.Jordan King, a deaf candidate, was selected as new president!
Phil Bravin, another deaf official, was selected as new Board of Trustees chairperson.

Aftermath
Deaf people united!
In 2006, I. King Jordan backed up the support for appointing Jane Fernandes to replace him. This led to another protest!
