o Describing problem, it’s appropriate that you listen carefully to the situation and clarify the person’s narrative.
o Avoid a discussion of causes at the risk of becoming mired in the minutiae surrounding the problem.
o Focusing too much on the past can be a type of mental quicks and prevents a person from escaping the more of a problem situation
o Establishing a desired future, can be motivating experiences
o People are motivated to reduce the discrepancy between what currently exists and the picture in their heads of what they future states will generate useful energy
o “ Stretch goal “ – is a starting point for change
o dream big and establish lofty goal
o solution are end results – they are the product of a person taking beginning and intermediate steps to do something different that will move them toward where they want to be
o small step are the answer because they help the person overcome the inertia of doing nothing, provide an immediate sense of progress, and maximize the probability of success
o World of communication “ effects” are brought about the differences
o Helping people change means helping discover what they want to be different in their lives and then what they are going to do differently to archieve it

3.The person will have an increased sense of responsibility and accountability. It is the person, thought the course of your solution- focused questions, who thinks through his situation in such a way as to come up with what he really wants, and what he can start doing to archieve it. In short, the person owns the solution, and with ownership comes more felt responsibility, and, therefore, pressure to follow through on his ideas
