Corrections

The Pennsylvania system
"Pennsylvania system of separate confinement evolved. It was based on five principles:
1.Prisoners would not be treated vengefully but should be convinced, through hard and selective forms of suffering, that they could change their lives.
- Solitary confinement would prevent further corruption inside prison.
- In isolation, offenders would reflect on their transgressions and repent.
- Solitary confinement would be punishment, because humans are by nature social animals.
- Solitary confinement would be economical, because prisoners would not need a long time to repent, and so fewer keepers would be needed and the cost of clothing would be lower."

Law of corrections
Although many people do get incarcerated and put into prisons, they still have constitutional rights just like everybody else.
This includes the first amendment, the fourth amendment, the eighth amendment, the fourteenth amendment, due process, equal protection and so on.

Prison programs
There are, in fact, prison programs that prisoners may go to. Many times when they do these programs, they can earn good time and be eligible for early release..
These programs include things such as Rehabilitative programs, vocational education, educational programs, etc.
Violence in prison
Much like I had previously mentioned, there are cases where there is violence in prison.
There are cases between prisoners and prisoners, prisoners and officers and the officers and the prisoners. Yes, there are even cases where the officer engages in violence with a prisoner.
