Definition: Online websites and application that allow its users to store files virtually, and allows users to share files and folders with other users.
Facts/Characteristics: Any type of file can be saved. Users can access the files from different devices (laptops, desktops, smartphones, tablets).
Example: Dropbox, CyBox (for Iowa State, who partners with Box), Google Drive are examples.
Question: How safe is it to keep personal information in the clouds, especially if you are keeping student information and grades in a cloud-based system?
Course Management Systems (Hutchison & Colwell, 2015, p. 179)
Definition: An online system where learning tools can be organized and used to create interaction between classmates.
Facts/Characteristics: It can include assignments, instructions, forums, etc.
Example: Moodle, Edmodo, Schoolbinder are free CMS’s
Question: How are CMS’s different than LMS’s? How can educators incorporate a CMS into a flipped classroom?
