American Civil War
Legal and Ethical
American families could of lost relatives in the battle and could bring heart break and memories back
Using Soldiers uniforms and weapons in game
The game offers a chance for the Confederates to win, American could see this as false and wrong information
Using Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis's names within game
The violence within game of soldiers dying could have an emotionally effected on people
Having an age rating on the game, could have less people playing the game but means teenagers and children wouldn't get emotionally attached to the game
The game could get easily addicted and effect relationships between families and friends
Using just men as Soldiers in the game, women could see this as stereotypical
Game Mechanics
1st or 3rd Person
Handheld or Console
Single Player or Multiplayer
Drag and drop, Controller or Keyboard and Mouse
Time limit within rounds or overall game
Health and mana system?
Enemies and AI
The Confederates States will be the enemy for the Single Player
In Multiplayer, the computer will chose which user will go on each side
The computer will control the factions in game, like where they go on map. e.g what road to walk on
The user plays the role of commander and looks after the factions in game but will have an aerial view of the gun battles going on between factions
The user will have the chance to tell the factions to put pressure on a certain area of the map
With the upgrade system, the user will need to make important decisions on which AI to upgrade to beat the enemy
Power Ups and Abilities
The player will have chance to upgrade their teams by using faction points
The Riflemen could have a RAGE moment where they will get unlimited ammo for a certain amount of time and take less damage and deal more damage
The Scouts get the chance to have INVISIBILITY for a certain time allowing the chance to run away from incoming factions or quickly sneak into the enemies base
The Sniper could have a SLOW MOTION ability where the game goes to barely any movement and the snipers have 4/5 bullets to take out the enemy team
The artillery could have the MISSILE GUIDED MORTAR where once they have fired their bullet the camera goes into a 3rd person scene and they can control where the mortar goes
HUD's
Start HUD will show the SINGLEPLAYER and MULITPLAYER option on screen also with a settings button. There will be certain slogans saying 'Good Men Are Needed' for example
The Settings HUD will have the chance to change Colour Blind Assist, Brightness, Zoom on Screen
The In game menu will show the factions at the bottom of the screen for the user to see. For each faction it will tell the player how many soldiers are in battle, how many are alive, also how many of the enemy faction soldiers are on the field
Also on the In game HUD will show in the top right hand corner the aims of what to do in game and certain objective the player can make on their own
The last HUD will be on the Victory Screen, where it will show the wins State taking the America holding the Flag up in the air with their leader standing in the middle congratulating the user
Visual Styling
Photorealism - stick to what most of the shooter game do?
Exaggerated - give it that look of soldiers having massive body strength like they're inhuman?
Cel-Shaded - give it that cartoony look?
More than just one styling? lie Cel-shaded look but Exaggerated soldiers?
Genre
Board/Strategy
Top Down
FPS
RPG
In Game Scene
Capture or Defend in a Town, holding off a point for more support?
Army vs Army in No mans Land? fighting it out to see who wins
Stealth, having two soldiers going through a Confederates town to capture a soldier?
A fight between just two soldiers from each team in a fist fight to see who wins, no weapons used other than a knuckle duster?
Music
Start Screen, I would want a calm, steady beat with an occasionally gun fire or sword smashing together.
The in game music, before sending out the Scouts, I will have the 'get ready for battle' drum beat. This will get the players blood pumping. This will happen before each round.
Also in game, there will be the sound of gun fire, walls and buildings getting destroyed, soldiers screaming, bushes rustlings together. This will be background noise when engaging in combat.
The last cut scene, I would use a guitar, drum beat and violin to calm the beat of the player after the long game.
Information
Who was fighting within the war
When it started and finished
Who won the battle
Key stages
Animations and Cut Scenes
The characters would have the animation to Jump, Walk, Sprint, Crouch, Hold a weapons (Zooming in and out), Swing a sword, Sneak, Adding mortar, Proning
For the Drag and Drop system, when clicking on a faction to place on the map from your base, a flag will appear on the map for the AI to follow to be placed there
The enemies would use the same animations but the Computer would control where the factions go in game
Hazards
The Scouts can leave traps on the floor for the Riflemen to get caught in
The Artillery team can blow up certain points within the map for their Riflemen to make camp and be sneaky against the enemy factions
The Artillery team can also use their mortars to blow up some weak structures and buildings allowing them to fall on enemy factions
Concept 1 or Concept 2?
Concept 1 is four factions sitting in trenches based in a town battling it out between the enemy factions. This game is more of a slow game compared to Concept 2 because you have to wait for the enemy user make a judgment call on where the suitable factions should go around the town
Concept 2 is a more strategical game between the users. There more aims within game to get Faction Point for the users factions. The teams have to try and stop the supply boats coming through on the river
