What was the Transatlantic Slave Trade?
What did it involve?
Africans were captured from Africa Brought t to the Americas on a slave ship. When they got to America where they were forced to work as slaves
Why did it exist?
It existed because they wanted to mass produce cash crops on plantions and farms , and they Wanted free labor to save money so they used slaves and forced them to work.

what were the conditions of the voyage for a slave?
They had Bad conditions, many deaths ,Some committed suicide , and others died from Diseases. The slaves were put in tight quarters where they couldn't stand up there ankles were put in shackles that kept them from escaping.

What were the colonists reasons/motives for turning to slavery?
They would have Free labor so they would make more money and didn't want to do labor themselves because there were lots of labor for making cash crops on plantions.. they also thought is was ok because They thought Rich whites were better than blacks and the poor.
Why didn’t they enslave Native Americans?
Because it was hard to take away Native’s culture because they were on their own land it was easy to destroy African culture because they were taken away from their land. Also native Americans would run away and were too powerful, and Africans wouldn’t run away and weren't powerful.

They feared the black slaves would rebel and rise up with the poor whites/slaves/servants against them.

Is Racism natural? Racism was never natural, because some whites in the American colonies would treat Africans and whites equally. The white elites told poor whites they were better than the blacks and gave them rights unfairly.
