People moved to the city as a result of the agricultural revolution and higher wages. Large cities grew in population which changed where people live and work today.

Trade increased in the country and around the world with the help of the steam engine. These routes lasted for many years.

Since those of lower classes had the opportunity to move up the social ladder, large landowners and aristocrats lost some power, respect and status, but still looked down upon those of lower class and status.

Since farmers were kicked off their land, they needed a place to live with jobs, the city became overpopulated, crowded, and everyone was competing for jobs.

They were very poor and dangerous conditions. Many were injured, died, or became sick. The air was very polluted. People relied on these wages so if injured or sick, it would become problematic in supporting their families.

Working hours were very long, and would cause one to be sleep deprived and they would work for small wages.
