Government policy which put boundaries upon. each tribe. This led to clashes between eh Natives and The Americans.
Battle of the hundred slain
massacre at sand creek: Mostly women and children were killed.
Red Cloud: A Sioux chief who unsuccessfully appealed to the government against white settlement.
Reservation: Land was set aside for Indians but they couldn't go where they pleased. This led to a clash between Americans and Native Americans
The treaty of fort Laramie: A treaty in which Indians agreed to live on reservations.
Assimilation: A way to make the Natives more like us.
Battle of wounded Knee
Americans
Many were made to live in sod houses.
Fetterman Massacre: 79 civilians and soldiers were killed in this battle.
High cost of grain increased the amount of debt.
Fromtier settlers: Faced drought , floods, fires, blizzards, plagues, as well as raids from the Native Americans.
Buffalo got in the way of the railroads.
