Can help with diseases
Some GMOs have vitamins and medicine to help the sick. There are over 500,000 children that die a year from VAD and 3.1 children die form malnutrition. With Golden Rice the vitamins in the GMO can help the children get the vitamins they need.
GMO mosquitoes will stop the female mosquitoes from producing babies. This will decrease the number of people that die every year. For example, "The gene is passed on to the insect’s offspring, so when male Oxitec engineered mosquitoes are released into the wild and mate with wild females, their offspring inherit the self-limiting trait. The resulting offspring will die before reaching adulthood, and the local mosquito population will decline" (Oxitec).

Can be healthier
Some GMO foods are proven to have more vitamins that organic foods. Like the Aquabounty Salmon and Golden Rice. For example, "It was developed to help prevent vitamin A deficiency" (Golden Rice).

Can hurt the environment
People are concerned about the Golden Rice GMO hurting the environment around it. The GMO's could spread unwanted genes to other plants. For example, " possibility of unwanted genes being transferred to wild relatives" (Golden Rice).

Can be harmful to humans
GMOs can be harmful to us because if a random gene is inserted into a food and someone is allergic to that gene, the person may react to the GMO and it could make them allergic to the original food. For example, "In some cases, proteins from an organism that you're allergic to may be added to an organism that you weren't originally allergic to, prompting the same allergic reaction experienced from the first organism" (Pros & Cons of GMO Foods).

Claim: The biggest benefit of GMOs is they grow faster so they could feed the people that actually need food, and some even have medicine that were put in the GMO to help get rid of a sickness.
Evidence: There is a fish called aquabounty salmon and they are genetically modified to grow fast and bigger to feed more people.
COUNTERCLAIM (JONAH BILLINGS): Even though they are grown faster, the AquaBounty salmon are the only GMO salmon on the market. The creators could just raise the prices because the consumers had no cheaper option, and then it would not be accessible to the poor people who need food.
Counterargument: There would be no reason for the creators to raise the price because they are still earning a lot of money from more people buying it because it is so cheap.
