Essays, Deep Dives, Op-eds
No real explanation needed but would like to have them tied to the theme of the blog very closely. Instead of having a generalist publication, it would be more pertinent to have a smaller collection of important pieces of writing that spoke to important design news/stories (basically quality > quantity). I also think having a clear format for these would be helpful for the sake of consistency. As an aside, I really like the AV Clubs "Stray Observations" editorial feature which is a list of bullet points that touch on things that aren't essential for the story but may add some context or are interesting enough to include as an afterthought.
Explainers, How It Works, How to's
These pieces would be shorter and follow a clear format. The main concept is that they will be digestible short 2-4 minute reads. This idea is similar to Vox's or CNN's Explainers. For example: 1.) Short four sentence intro to topic - 2.) bullet points of what will be covered. 3.) Three-five short paragraphs with two images and possible infographic if necessary as the body. 4a.) summation of what was leaned in bullet points and 4b.) short closing paragraph.
Interviews
Standard Interviews: getting access to important people in the design space would be tremendous. Asking the questions that are important to us, that we believe there is an audience for, and that are not being asked.
10 Famous Questions: a small set of questions that would be asked of all interviewee's, like a survey. Think James Lipton's Famous 10 Questions. Deep questions that get to the root of who people are, what their design philosophy is, and ask something MORE than a standard set of questions. Could be asked at the end of interviews or when a full interview isnt possible in lew of a full interview.
series: series are basically instagram stories/snapchat stories but for medium. The difference is they never go away so you can create a very long series. This could be used as a way to have an ongoing stream about a specific topic

Reframing the way design is thought of. It is not a commodity. design thinking is so trendy, we often lose sight of its actual value: pragmatism, organization, structure that allows for free thinking and imagination
