Theory of Knowledge (Epistemology)
Lecture # 7
Nov 19, 2017
4.5 Translation of anything:
- with respect to words
- with respect to context
- with respect to both
4.3 Evaluation of something:
-
4.4 Interpretation and ordering of knowledge
in every era according to context
e.g. marriage ceremony in a society
-
-
-
4.8 Societal welfare through:
- market
- government
- religion
-
-
- Knowledge:
- is a 'relationship' between knower and known
- is a 'relationship' between subject and object
3.2 Questions arise from this relationship:
- Which fact is fact/true? (Its a cosmological assumption)
- What is fact?
(Fact is defined as something which has an existence, can be proved on the basis of rationality.)
- What is important and what is not important?
- What to be and what not to be? (chronological order in terms of importance.
Its an ontological assumption)
All the answers can be made into a package which is a system in itself / framework
-
3.1 Assumptions of knowledge (Epistemology)
to be fulfilled before the questions of relationship are addressed
-
-
-
-
-
3.3 Two school of thoughts for interpreting the assumptions #
-
-
- Aristotle set into order basic four elements:
Fire, Water, Air, Earth
(on the basis of context of beliefs and knowledge, philosophy is by virtue of experience)
