Language is a great source of knowledge, and so, metaphors allow us to see things we wouldn’t otherwise. In using metaphor and language, we can come to connect and understand attitude to space and time. Due to the fact that language is so ambiguous, in metaphors lives an abundance of implications. In our everyday life, our language constantly bombards us with multiple meanings, and in this sense, metaphors are different from our preconceptions. Beyond dialogue with one another, metaphors can be found in poems, literature, religious texts, music, comics, political messages, and advertisements. Metaphors, however, go beyond even this, and are part of a conceptual system. Cognitive science, through research, has demonstrated that our brains are not only wired to generate and understand metaphorical statements, but also to reason metaphorically.
