Causes of floods in Bangladesh
Human
Because of deforestation there is more water reaching the rivers
Deforestation - build more houses and other buildings
Population is growing - deforestation
Instead of having grass or mud on the ground, people lay down tarmac - rainwater then has to go back to the rivers above ground because it cant sink through the tarmac
Physical
80 % of ground is less than 6 metres above sea level
Rivers bring water quickly towards bangladesh
Too much water in the rivers so they overflow and burst their banks
Ground is very flat - easier to flood
Very heavy monsoon ray that goes on for days
Loads of huge rivers going through bangladesh
