The Spartacists were a group of German communists who didn't like the Wiemar republic.
They wanted to make Germany a communist country
The leaders were Karl Liebkneckt and Rosa Luxembourg
5th January 1919
They took over the offices of newspapers and called for all workers for go on strike, in protest against the Weimar
It failed and only lasted for 3 days.
100 Spartacists died as well as Rosa Luxembourg and Karl Liebneckt.
The Spartacists weren't trained soldiers and the freikorps attacked the spartacista. They realised they never wanted to be a communist country..
Stab in the back
Jews caused Germany's defeat by working with the communists and weimar politicians.
They stabbed the German army in the back by signing the armistice
Kapp Putsch
Nationalist politician Wolfgang Kapp believed in stab in the back theory
Members of the Kapp Putsch were freikorps. They wanted he kaiser to return to Germany.
They refused to stop being soldiers and go home. (disband)
President Ebert asked the soldiers for help but they were friends with the freikorps
Ebert asked workers in Berlin to help. They started a general strike. No trains were running and the electricity switched off.
Kapp realised he couldn't run the country if all the workers were against him so he ran away.
They attacked the Wiemar government and took over Berlin
It happened in 1920 for 6 days
