Primary GI lymphoma
Primary GI lymphoma:
when we
diagnose a patient with GI lymphoma, we exclude to have lymphoma in the
mediastinal or axillary lymph nodes
we don’t
have lymphoma in the systemic lymph nodes
NO evidence of liver, spleen, or BM involvement at the time of diagnosis
5% of all GI malignancies
Regional lymph nodes may be involved.
(Within the GI tract. we have to
make sure that they are secondary to GI lymphoma, not the other way
around)
The gut is the most common extranodal site
Can be of B- or T-cell origin. But the B lineage is more common
found in many forms;
Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma
Burkitt lymphoma
