body & fundus
-More common in
the lesser curvature
than the Greater curvature
Lesser curvature of the antropyloric region
Classification based
on depth of invasion:
-Early gastric
carcinoma (EGC)
could be
Exophytic,
Flat (depressed)
which leads to ulceration (that's why all
gastric ulceration must be biopsied)
Confined to the mucosa & submucosa
excavated which
leads to blood loss
because it affects
the BVs.
Exophytic
Flat (depressed)
excavated
Advanced gastric carcinoma
Evoke a desmoplastic reaction and
wall hardening
May mimic chronic peptic ulcer
that’s why we can't differentiate
endoscopically between malignant,
benign gastric ulce
Extended below the submucosa
Heaped-up (raised) margins
