Family sets the standard and requirements for education, strict parents may have higher academic expectations over more lenient parents.
Family go away to help with war or peacekeeping and could die, or cone back physically or mentally scarred.
Family decides what media is appropriate for the members of the family and will block out or look down on certain kinds of media for example not playing violent movies with children around,
Family has a big role in which religion you are as they may take you to church as a child or follow religious practices throughout your life, they may also choose not to believe in religion and give you your own choice.
Education
Education is no longer free after high school and now a days without an education it is hard to get a high paying job and be successful in life.

Government, Legal system and armed forces all have to deal with criticism from the media. The criticism males these social institutions look racist, or prejudice and encourage protest and rebellion.
