Relation to the Unit
This topic is related to the unit because it uses ratios and the scale factor can be introduced as the constant value because there is a specific number (Unit Rate) that increase or decreases the shape size.
K-value
Real life example A girl is doing her math test and a questions shows a table with X and Y values the question asks what is the k-value
How can i explain/define? K-value is the the number that is multiplied by the by the Y to get the X if the problem is proportional
Relationship to other parts of the unit The K-value relates to proportionality again because if you can find a K-value then the problem is proportionality
Unit rate
Relationship to other parts of the unit The unit rate relates to k-value because they both require the ability ti divide
Real life examples A man in a grocery store sees that the strawberries are 2 packs for 13 dollars, when he goes to another store and sees that the strawberries are 3 packs for 17 dollars. He wants to know which store is cheaper to do this he needs to find the unit rate
How can i explain/define? The unit rate is the comparison of two numbers ex: 1:25 or 1 dollar per 5 candies
