Triganometry - SOHCAHTOA
SOH - S stands for sin and OH means O/H. If H is 8cm, the known angle is 50 degrees and you want to find O you would write it as X/8 equals sin 50. This is then changed to X equals 8 x sin (50). Put this into the calculator.
If O is known and H is unknown you would do this backwards so, 8/X equals sin 50. This changes to X equals 8 divided by sin (50) and then you put that into your calculator.
CAH - C stands for cos and AH means A/H. If H is 8cm and the known angle is 50 degrees and you want to find A you would write is as X/8 equals cos 50. This is then changed to X equals 8 x cos (50). Put this into the calculator.
If A is known and H is unknown you would do this backwards so, 8/X equals cos 50. This changes to X equals 8 divided by cos (50) and then you put this into your calculator.
TOA - T stands for tan and OA means O/A. If A is 8cm and the known angle is 50 degrees and you want to find O you would write it as X/8 equals tan (50). This is then changed to X equals 8 x tan (50). Put this into the calculator.
If O is known and A is unknown you would do this backwards so, 8/X equals tan 50. This changes to X equals 8 divided by tan (50) and then you put this into your calculator.
