Acute
- Morning stiffness lasting 1+ hour
- Soft tissue swelling 3+ joint simultaneously
- 1+ area swollen in wrist, MCP or PIP joint

- Abnormal amnt. serum rheumatoid factor
- Erosions or bony decalcifications on radiographs; rat bites out of bone
Treatment

Medication
1st; Analgesics/ anti-inflammatory (NSAID's, Glucocorticoids)
Later; Immunosuppressive, cytotoxic and biologic
Disease Modifying Anti-Rheumatic Drugs (DMARD's); Methotrexate; immunoregulatory not necessarily immunosuppressant
