JMOL
50(a): If a party has been fully heard on an issue and the court finds that a reasonable jury would not have a legally sufficient basis to find for the party on an issue, the court may grant a motion for judgement as a matter of law.
50(b): Within 28 days after a return of a verdict, a party who has a timely moved for JMOL may serve a motion to set aside the verdict and any judgement entered on the verdict. The party can also make a joint request for a new trial. Court can allow judgement on the verdict, order new trial, or direct a verdict as a matter of law.

Remitur/Additur
Remitur: Where the verdict is excessive or inadequate, the judge may grant a conditional new trial-the new trial will occur unless the P agrees to a reduction of the damages to a specified amount.
