- - - - Out of the 6 islamic theocratic countries: Yemen, Iran, Afghanistan, and Saudi Arabia have the death penalty.
      - Stoning is not mentioned or referenced at all in the Quran. It is legal and practiced in Iran, in Afghanistan it is practiced extrajudicially. The practice of stoning is from the pre-islamic religions, such as, Judaism and Torah where Stoning is one of the main methods of execution. To answer one of my other questions "How much does the Quran affect the criminal justice system?" this form of execution is not influenced by the Quran.
      - Saudi Arabia is the only country in the world where beheading is used as a method of capital punishment.
      - One of Yemen and Saudi Arabia's methods of capital punishment is execution by a firing squad.
      - In Afghanistan, Iran and Sudan hanging is a very popular method of capital punishment.

        Capital Punishments:
        
        In Europe in almost all of the countries in the European Union have banned the death penalty except for in 2 countries: Belarus and Kazhakstan.
        
        As I said before many of the punishments in theocratic governments revolve around the saying "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth."
      - Crucifixion still happens in Saudi Arabia, however, crucifixion happens after the beheading of criminals. The corpses head is sewn back on and is tied to a pole in public (the corpse is put in public) to act as a deterrent.
      - The following punishments are used for different types of offenses such as stealing stalking and other offenses. However, the punishment system follows the saying: "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth". For example, the punishment for stealing is getting your right hand cut off, this can change in different places (a hand an a leg is cut off, both hands are cut off). Another example is a man in Iran was stalking a woman, who declined his advances and because of that he poured acid on her which blinded and disfigured her. Consequently, his eyes were blinded by dropping five drops into his open eyes. The entre saying comes from the Torah which says: "A life for a life, an eye for an eye, a nose for a nose, an ear for an ear, and a tooth for a tooth and in the case of injuries there is a requital... "

        These exotic types of execution were restricted to hanging and firing squad only in 1909. The types of execution stayed in that range in the Pahlavi dynasty as well however in the Iranian revolution there became more ways of execution.
