Give lectures through the duration of this project on the significance of the music in each decade, explaining pop culture in each of the decades and 5 important artists of the time.
This is connecting what the students heard from the Google Play playlists that they listened to and created.

Make comments on students' work.
Showing students the opportunities of online grading and student-teacher interaction online. It is much quicker and easier to make comments online than to hand in a copy and get it back with notes on it. With Google Drive, it is all immediate.
This gives students practice of using Google Drive which allows them to have saved documents on the internet forever in their google account, which would be very beneficial to use in the future.
Teach students how to compose a song.
Practice songwriting in class time.
Put students in groups that allow a wide variety of talents and skills for writing and composing the song.
Once the groups have been formed, each group will be assigned an historical event that connects to the song.

The students would listen to a certain amount of songs from each decade playlist that would come up on Google Play. Students could listen to 5 songs from the decades of 1920, 1930, 1940, 1950, 1960, 1970, 1980, 1990 and 2000.

Create playlist of 1 favorite song from each decade using google play music
Student would write a google document with the link to their playlist and then explain the significance of each song in the culture in which it was written.
