He is very hateful towards Piggy and constantly calls him names and demeans him, even going as far as to physically hurt him. As a result, the tone to become very forceful. When Piggy tries to tell Jack how important the fire was and how the hunters should have kept it going, the "agreement from some of the hunters, drove Jack to violence" reacting, he "struck his fist into Piggy's stomach", later calling him a "fatty"(pg.71). He physically and verbally bullies Piggy to silence, causing the scene to adopt a hateful tone.
