Shot 1
(Medium Tension) Intimidation shot of snow blown by wind on the mountain. (32:57)
SCASI: Setting- This shot is used as a transition, as well as keeping to the tension. Shows the setting, a snowy cliff.
Shot: No camera movement, still shot.
Shot 5
(Medium tension) When he tugs on the rope to tell Joe he needs to get his weight off the rope. (34:35)
Shot: Close-up shot- A close-up shot is used to show Simon tugging on the rope to tell Joe he is going to take the rope out to pass through the knot.
SCASI: Action- Simon is helping Joe, and they have reached a difficulty. Joe cannot move his weight, and if the rope is taken out of the belay plate, Joe will fall into the crevasse
Sound: Narration from Joe to provide context.
Shot 4
(High tension) When Joe tries to reach for the ice wall for rope to pass through belay plate (34:10)
Shot: Low-angle shot, showing Joe from on tope. Captures all the movement of Joe desperately reaching for ice wall.
SCASI: Character- Joe is desperate to reach the ice wall so he can be lowered down.
SCASI: Action- A climax is reached when Joe cannot reach the wall no matter what. Build-up of tension
Sound: Sounds of Joe struggling to reach the wall.
Shot 3
(High Tension) Shot depicting the crevasse underneath Joe, that if he fell, that is where he would land (33:55)
SCASI: Setting- This shot shows the place where Joe will land if he falls or the rope gets disconnected from Simon's spot on top of the cliff.
SCASI: Idea- Joe is thinking that he i definently left for dead, and if he gets lowered anymore, he will fall into the crevasse.
Shot: POV shot- a POV shot is used to show the audience what Joe is seeing at this stage. Make the viewer fear for Joe.
SCASI: Action- Joe is being lowered down by Simon. The cliff gets steeper and Joe cannot be lowered anymore.
Shot 2
(High Tension) Joe sliding down the mountain (33:12)
SCASI: Action- Joe is being lowered by Simon. Part of the plan to get down to base camp safely.
Shot: Medium shot- A medium shot is used to show Joe from the torso up. Only shows the necessary parts.
Sound: The sounds of wind whirling, Joe screaming, as well as the snow and rope. Audio of Joe sliding down the cliff and screaming, as he has a badly broken leg.
