Text to text: What was Bruce's relationship with God. Bruce's original relationship with God was not a very strong one. He knew there was a God and acknowledged that he is the all powerful, but it was not going anywhere from there. He even got angry with God because he wasn't listening to him and didn't understand why bad things were happening to him. He states after he gets fired from his work, "oh, don't worry, he's not listening. Have you seen the news lately? We got gangs, we got drugs, we got corruption. What kind of God lets that happen?" and later he also states "God is all powerful. He could fix everything in five minutes if he wanted to." Grace tries to reason with him, but this did not go well. Bruce has a closed minded opinion on God.
How did Bruce's relationship with God change? Bruce's relationship with God changed after he got God's powers. When God first called on him, He did not believe that it was truly him. Then God gave Bruce his powers, and he believed it. He was now assigned as a "temporary God" but was not doing a good job. All he had done were things for himself and only benefit his life. When Bruce was getting these voices in his head, God told him that those were all the prayers people were praying to God and as part of the job he had to answer them. Out of sloth, Bruce just said yes to everyone. This action resulted in riots and Grace leaving him. This was a pivotal moment because the one person he cared for the most was gone. God tells him that he was on his right path and that the direction his life was taking him, was the right direction for him. By the end of the movie Bruce had a relationship with God because he had seen all that God does for us and that God is the only one that can do what he does. He realizes this and his morals and values change
What did he do to build his relationship with God To build a relationship with God, Bruce walked around in God's shoes and had things happen to him that would put him in God's position. Bruce asks God "How do you make someone love you without changing freewill?" and God replies "welcome to my world". He understands more about God the longer he is put in his position. By the end of the film, Bruce prays and trusts in God that he will provide and that where he was in his life is where he needs to be.
