Quebec Conference
October 1864, reps of the colonies held a second conference in Quebec CIty
Discussed details on how the joinment of the colonies would be done
They met for 3 weeks and worked rules for sharing power in the new country
At the end of the conference, delegates voted mostly in favour of Quebec Resoulutions.
Features of Canada's gov
Federal Constitution
: Meaning there would be a gov for the whole country, as well as for each province
Each level of gov would be responsible for specific areas
In parliament, there would be balance of rep by pop and equal representation
Balance between elected and appointed reps
Charlottetown Conference
September 1860, Maritime colonies held a conference in Charlottetown to discuss the idea of the Maritime Union
Canadas were not part of the colonie but came anyway
The Canadians tried to stop the Maritime Colonies from starting a union but John A. Macdonald got them to consider starting a union including the Canadas
Delegates at the Conference agreed and supported the idea of the Canadas and Maritimes joining
