Sustainable ecosystems
Ecosystems that are diverse and are able to provide the needs of the organisms living there over a long period of time are sustainable ecosystems . They are sustainable because they are maintained without being used up or destroyed.
When a species becomes extinct, every individual of that species has died. Extinction can be caused by climate change, disease, destruction of habitat, natural disasters or the development of a new species that is better adapted to the environment.
