Most of these neoplasms are benign: 70-80% of parotid tumors

Patients complain of mass at angle of jaw

80% of tumors occur in the parotid gland and it has M:F equal ratio in all ages

epithelial elements, myxoid stroma (because of
the presence of myoepithelial cells), often
containing chondroid foci or, rarely, bone

Malignant transformation: 15% in
parotid, 40% in submandibular gland.

slowly growing, well-demarcated and
mostly arising from superficial parotid

not fully-encapsulated and has outgrowths,

has cysts that
can rupture during surgical removal, which can cause problems in conservative
removal in the parotid gland since the facial nerve passes through it.
