Definition
This is a phobia of being outside or in a public space
Behavioural characteristics
They do not leave the house as they begin to panic and they begin to act in an irrational way such as when they leave they take a loved one or friend with them
Tends to get worse as time develops
Begin to avoid their phobias
Cognitive Characteristics
Believe the home is their safe place and they believe leaving the house is a bad thing as terrible situations may occur to them
They over think situations and then phobia gets worse over time
Situations they avoid
They avoid leaving the house alone
Avoid public and overcrowded areas
Consequences of behaviour
Person becomes reclusive
Substance abuse addiction can be developed
Family relationships are hurt or lost
Job can be terminated
Self worth is negatively impacted
Financial ruin can be experienced
