- 66.9% victims of physical assault in WA, 2011-12 believed alcohol or another substance contributed to their assault

NHMRC guidelines to ⇊ health risks from drinking alcohol
- No more than 2 standard drinks ⇊ lifetime risk of harm from alcohol-related disease or injury
- No more than 4 st drinks on a singe occasion ⇊s risk of alcohol related the risk of lcohol related injury arising
- 15-17y/o: safest option is to delay the initiation of drinking for as long possible
- Pregnant women: no drinking, breastfeeding, not drinking is safest opinion

- social marketing campaigns tht address the risks of alcohol
- responsible media reporting and portrayal of alcohol
- limit or prevent exposure to alcohol ads, promoting & sponsorship thru regulation
Supply reduction strats
- parents, siblings and friends= main sources of supply to young ppl
- ∴ they have key role to play in reducing access to alcohol by this group
- increase training & support for those at the point of sale of alcohol
- regu of the sale of alcohol, to whom and when, by ensuring tht alcohol is sold only to adults & only to licensed premises & liquor retailers
