Osmosis
is the diffusion of water molecules from a region of high water potential to a region of lower water potential through a partially permeable membrane.
Active transport
is the movement of molecules in or out of a cell through the cell membrane, from a lower concentration to a higher concentration against a concentration gradient using energy which released respiration.
ROOT HAIR
Water taken up by the roots of a plant is transported through a plant to the leaves. Water enters root hair cells by the process osmosis. The root hair cell is hypertonic to the surrounding soil water.
