President Hoover
1st president to take position on crime issue. Created "Wickersham Commission" to conduct examination of Criminal Justice (CJ) system. Due to limited budgetary allocation, no action was implemented.
President Roosevelt
No attention to crime was suggested/crime began to dwindle/repealed the Volstead Act of 1933.
President Eisenhower
Crime issue became the central focus once again. Baby-boom generation increased juvenile crime.
President Kennedy
Expanded the federal role in crime control. Organized crime has increased. (Same concern as President Eisenhower).
