Heavily armed police officers in Jackson, Mississippi and FBI members launch a raid against residents. A shootout takes place. A police lieutenant is killed and 11 RNA members are arrested for murder.

The student movement begins to use bombs for the first time. In the next few years, several hundred attacks and protests take place against corporate offices.
May 4, 1970
Several days of protesting at Kent State University and burning ROTC buildings. National Guard Troops are sent to the campus and open fire.

An uprising in Attica State Penitentiary occurred in New York where 9 guards are taken hostage. 30 prisoners and 9 guards are killed in gunfire.

The Weather Underground set off a bomb on the Pentagon in the Air Force wing.

Malcolm X is assassinated by members of the Nation of Islam.
