Space- a land mass, a physical location which isn't as specific and doesn't contain much value or relevance
Place- a specific location with value and relevance to a person, it is subjective
Demography- number of inhabitants, ages, gender, ethnicity
Socio-economic- employment, income, family status, education
Cultural- religion, local traditions, local clubs, societies
Political- local/regional/national government, local groups such as resident associations
Built environment- age/style of buildings, building materials, density of housing
Globalisation- growing integration and interdependence of peoples lives in a complex process and economic, social, political and environmental components
Time space compression- refers to the set of processes that cause the relative distances between places to contract effectively making such places 'grow closer'
Physical geography- altitude, slope angle, aspect, drainage,geology
Standard of living-the ability to access services and goods, this includes basics like food and water
Quality of life-extent to which people needs and desires are met. This can be seen in areas such as the treatment of people, do people have equal rights?
HDI- measure of wealth, health, education. It measures from 1-0 (1 being the most developed and 0 being the least developed)
Disposable income- the amount of money left over after the essentials of life have been bought (food,clothes,housing)
Players- individuals, groups of people or formal organisations who can influence or can be influenced by the process of change
Rebranding- developments aimed at changing negative perceptions of place making it more attractive for investment
Regeneration- investment of capital and ideas into an area to revitalise and renew its socio-economic and environmental status
Re imaging- developments associated with rebranding and usually involving cultural, artistic or sporting elements
Gentrification- when old housing, dilapidated an in need to repair is bought by middle class and wealthy people who have the money to modernise and improve the properties and as a result, the inner city improves
