Nazi Germany took this very literally and attempted to accomplish this
saw disabled people, Jews, Afro-Germans, etc. as inferior
forcibly prevented "inferior" people from reproducing
law existed in Virginia forbidding interracial marriage until 1967
Massacres of Jews
Nazi way of killing mass numbers of Jews before "Final Solution"
Final Solution- way to exterminate all Jews
other ideas considered included moving all to Madagascar or keep them locked up
decided on at Wannsee Conference in Germany
Germany invaded Soviet Union in 1941
followed by mobile killing units called "Einsatzgruppen"
only job was to kill "enemies" and Jews
killed an estimated 2 million people overall
originally used organized massacres

Germany invaded Poland
motivated France and Britain to declare war
motivated by idea of "Lebensraum" which is more living space for the Aryan race
Hitler believed the Aryan race is the ideal human and that they are superior
Issues for Jews
no longer safe even outside of Germany as Nazis are gaining control in surrounding countries
total war- dedicated all of their resources and efforts to the war
