The two main men: lennie and george leave their job because of some trouble and they travel to tyler ranch. Here they start working and bonding with the other ranch workers, but they also experience difficulties when it comes lennies mental challenges and the disagreement with curley
Everything seems to be going fine at the ranch. They have made friends with the other workers. They all accept lennies disability. And lenny is happy with petting the puppy's in the barn.
In the middle of the movie, candy's old dog gets shot by the workers who are sick of it barking. And he later regrets it by saying to george "I should have shot my own dog."
In an afternoon, lennie pets the puppy too hard, and it ends up dead. Curley's wife shows up and they talk about a lot of things. Lennie starts touching her hair, but it quickly turns into something more violent, although that was not his intention. He accidentally strangles and kills the young woman and runs off.
George becomes really upset when he finds out what lennie did. Curley finds out to and sends out a searchparty to kill him off. George goes out on his own, and eventually finds him by the river. Lennie again asks him about the future and while he looks away: george shoots him.
I believe the reason he shoots him is because of the thing candy says about his dog. He knew the other men would get him eventually so he wanted to do it himself. because lennie was his responsibility
