The Gospel is Revelation
transforms lives, people to follow JC - 1 Thess 1:9-10

What is it?

-
Crediblity:
- without grace people can't know God, but God uses humans to share gospel.
- believe because of claims of Jesus
- testimony by those who wrote NT/saw him
- offers best explanation of human experience.
"the Xtn revelation is a matter of gracious disclosure, not of human enquiry, and as a 'word from God' it cannot be subject to human interrogation. Yet the actual revelation in the gospel comes via human speech and human effort" pg 43

Of God. And verbal.
Warning against forgetting this and going straight to word = Jesus (logos). John 1... Written words of scripture also word of God.
-
"we come into communion with God through the Word, who speaks the word of the gospel".
- Warns of coming judgement.
-
- Jesus Christ as Lord through his deaths, resurrection and exaltation central.
-
-
NT authenticates JC 3 ways:
- what was said by him
- being the one who died and rose, is Son of God
- what was said about him. Both people who knew him and OT.
"thus the authenticity of any alleged reproduction of the gospel depends upon the identity of the Christ who is preached in that gospel." pg 57
- Shows God's love and mercy
-
-
- Requires repentance and faith from hearers. Change of allegience.
