Attempt at a focus group
They were given a dial and they had to listen to a series of video clips and if they were feeling negatively about something, they would turn their dials to the left and if they were thinking positively about something, they would turn their dials to the right.
Their response?
"People have been using these products for decades with no problems" and "We list our ingredients so consumers have a choice" and the participants already had a preset mind as to who they were going to believe, which was the independent experts rather than the company spokespeople.

This focus group was definitely a good attempt with bad results. The participants were all sorts of kinds of bias. They have probably been using these products that were being ridiculed and have probably had no visible effects on them so they think that it is not true. With this bias, it makes it almost impossible to try and change their minds on some products.
To summarize, the CTFA's game plan was that they were going to have their members sign a commitment pledge, enhance their self policing Cosmetic Ingredient Review program and make a website that talked about the ingredients in cosmetic.
My initial reaction of this is that I laughed. First of all, just because the members sign a pledge does not mean that they are going to always follow through with it. Also, I really don't think that making a website will do any good because I doubt that any consumer is going to take time out of their day to look u the ingredients for their products and see if it has chemicals in it that are going to harm them or not if they have been using that product for a long time now.
"At this point in the industry's technology, no one can make a product 100% safe"

What is beauty?
Society thinks that beauty is when you have outer beauty, a painted face with makeup and a body like a model.
Some others feel as though beauty is having confidence in yourself, being excited for the way you look because it's how you want to look, feeling good about yourself, hanging out with your friends and doing well in school.
