Arts Award - Bronze
Part A - Explore the arts as a participant
Participate: this will be your workshop at school and your glass making at National Glass Centre. Day 1 & 2
Evidence of both workshops: what are your points of inspiration? Include design ideas and development of these ideas, photos, print outs, notes. Day 1 & 2
Include comments and feedback from others, discuss in the group. In school between visits
Describe what you did, where, with who, the steps of the process. Use photos. Day 1 & 2
Write a summary of what you have learnt in these two workshops. How have your skills improved? Be sure to look back at everything you've done so far. In school between visits
Part D - Arts skills share
You have to share something you've learnt with others. Day 3
Make a plan to prepare for the skills share, explain what you will do and why. In school between visits.
Deliver workshop to others. Day 3
Evidence: ask someone to take photos for you. Day 3
How did it go? Write up what went well, what you enjoyed, and anything you would change to improve upon if you did it again. Day three and in school
Part B - Explore the arts as an audience member
Visit and exhibition: This will be when you are at National Glass Centre. Day 2 & 3
Evidence: photos, leaflets, notes, sketches of the art work, videos, notes about discussions / talks with staff. Day 2 & 3
Personal reflection: what did you think? Your opinion, you don't have to like it, but you do need to express what you think and why. Has it had any impact, has the work inspired you? Did you enjoy the experience? Day 2 & 3 and in school between visits
Share: tell others what you thought of the exhibition. You can do this in any format. Think about who you'd share it with. Could you share this in an assembly? With another class? On the school's website? You must record this. In school
Part C - Arts inspiration
Research an artist, crafts-person or practitioner who inspires you. They can be famous, or local and can work in any art form. This does not need to link to your other design work. You will meet an artist on day 2, or you can choose your own. In school and day 2
What is their practice? What can you find out about their career, life and work to date? Present a range of resources to show you've spent time researching. Day 2
What have you learnt about them? In school
