The HOQ Model is a design tool that originated in 1972 at the Mitsubishi Kobe shipyard and forms part of Quality Function Deployment (QFD), HOQ and QFD focus on coordinating skills within an organization to design, manufacture and market products, HOQ highlights the importance of building cross functional teams that break down functional silos within organizations. Cross Functional Team (CFT): Emphasizes that production staff, engineers, designers, and marketers should work closely together in a team. Customer Voice: HOQ model emphasizes that products should be designed to reflect customer's desires and tastes (i.e. 'Customer Voice')
